Welcome to Warbird Wednesday! Today we are looking at the OS2U Kingfisher, a reconnaissance aircraft used during World War II. In addition to being a recconnaissance aircraft, it was also used for search and rescue missions picking up downed pilots. This is another example of an aircraft that was operated by various countries including the Soviets and Cubans before being retired in 1959. Designed by Rex B. Beisel, this aircraft had a large size making it ungainly and vulnerable to enemy fighters.
