Welcome to Warbird Wednesday! Today we looking at another big cargo transport aircraft, the DHC-4 Caribou. The Caribou was known as the CV-2 and the C-7 in Army service. It had its first flight in 1958. The plane was pivotal in moving cargo in Vietnam for the U.S. Army. These aircraft were known for their short take-offs and landing (STOL) ability and would fly between small fire bases in Vietnam moving cargo on short trips. They were later transferred to the U.S. Air Force. And fully retired from military service in 2009.
